2025 Membership Form 

All information must be completed for insurance coverage registration and statistical analysis by Equestrian Canada.

*Please note there is a longer processing period for mailed membership forms and cheques.

Processing of Memberships:
  • Memberships are in effect January 1st, of that year or when payment is received.
  • We accept e-transfer and cheque by mail only. Do not send cash.
  • Membership and insurance expires on December 31st of that year.
The standard processing time is 4-6 weeks and could be longer.

Should you require your membership to be expedited, please contact the secretary directly. 
  • Expedited memberships will be processed within 7 days. 
  • Expedited memberships are subject to a $25.00 fee which must be received before processing.

Benefits of membership

Year End and Achievement Awards
NLEA members can participate in the Provincial Primary Competition Circuit and are eligible for Year End and Achievement Awards.

Sport NL affiliation
NLEA members can access Sport NL financial support such as scholarships, championship hosting grants, athlete assistance, NCCP courses and coaching and officials updating and certification.

Atlantic Horse & Pony Magazine
NLEA members enjoy reduced subscription rates for Atlantic Canada's popular equine magazine, "Atlantic Horse & Pony" - $15.00/year, quarterly publication. You can subscribe directly through your membership form.

Equestrian Canada affiliation
The Newfoundland & Labrador Equestrian Association is an affiliate of Equestrian Canada (EC). NLEA members can access Equestrian Canada's Learn to Ride and Coaching Programs. NLEA members can become Sport License Holders with Equestrian Canada to compete in EC sanctioned Bronze, Silver and Gold level shows.

The NLEA is pleased to provide competitive automatic insurance coverage through its partnership with Acera Insurance Services Ltd.  Additional insurance options can be purchased through your membership form.

NO MATTER WHAT DATE YOU PAID YOUR MEMBERSHIP, IT AND YOUR LIABILITY INSURANCE EXPIRES EACH YEAR ON DECEMBER 31st.

RENEWALS ARE SENT OUT BY DECEMBER AND SHOULD BE PAID ASAP TO CONTINUE YOUR UNINTERRUPTED COVERAGE.

AUTOMATIC INSURANCE PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS

​ This covers you if claims are brought against you by people using a horse you own, borrow, lease, etc. It includes bodily injury or property damage to someone or something else when you are held legally liable and covers up to $5,000,000.

Liability coverage is for non-commercial equine-related activities. Some limitations and exclusions apply. Coverage is in force 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and covers the member (Canadian resident) anywhere in the world. Exclusions apply for members who are non-Canadian residents.
**ALL LIABILITY CLAIMS FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARE SUBJECT TO A $1,000.00 DEDUCTIBLE**

This covers you if you suffer a serious or catastrophic injury through an interaction with a horse, not including losses arising from the contraction of a disease. Covers up to $40,000.


OPTIONAL INSURANCE PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
  • Enhanced Accidental Death & Dismemberment including Fracture and Dental Benefits
    • $45.00/year
$50,000 coverage for injuries, dismemberment and death sustained during horse related events including during travel to and from an equine event in a vehicle. This policy will pay regardless of any other insurance that may be in force at the time of the incident. Enhanced AD&D is restricted to members the age of 75 years.

  • NLEA Members Named Perils
    • $35.00/year
This coverage insures the life of the horse for death arising from a list of “named” perils detailed in the policy wording. It covers losses from such causes as fire, lightning, collapse of a building, transport, entrapment, drowning, impact by a vehicle, government order and others. Horses aged 30 days or older are eligible for Named Perils Mortality coverage (no maximum age). This coverage does not include death arising from sickness.

  • NLEA Member Tack Coverage
    • $75.00/year
$15,000 coverage against loss or damage from "all risks" for owned tack and equipment, excluding rider clothing and protective equipment, anywhere in Continental US/Canada. Limit of coverage is $15,000 for any one loss, total limit per term. Losses subject to a $500.00 deductible.
