NLEA EDUCATIONAL BURSARY INFORMATION
Eligibility Criteria
You must have been an NLEA member in Good Standing for the current and previous year.
Selection Committee
Winners will be selected by a committee of three (3) NLEA Board members, who will not receive compensation for this committee work. Their involvement is voluntary. Due to the need for impartiality, the names of the committee will not be publicly disclosed until after the selection process is completed. All personal information will be kept confidential and disclosed only to those parties on a need-to-know basis.

Applications must be received by June 1st of each year.
Only complete applications will be considered. Late applications will be rejected.
You must have been an NLEA member in Good Standing for the current and previous year.
- You must have lived in Newfoundland and Labrador for the past two (2) years and be a Canadian citizen or hold landed immigrant status.
- You must be registered or attending an accredited Post Secondary educational institute in order to be eligible for the award. You must attend one semester after the award is received. Please submit Letter of Acceptance if entering for first time.

- Completed application form:
- Applicant Essay (maximum 400 word TYPED essay) to include:
- When did you begin working with horses?
- Include equine activities that you have helped organize or have volunteered with in your local, regional, or national area if applicable.
- List disciplines that you have participated in (e.g. Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, Reining, etc.)
- Include current equestrian activities.
- Please explain how being involved with horses has contributed to your development.
- Include your future equine-related plans.
- Why did you choose your field of study?
- In what other community activities are you involved?
- Please explain why you deserve this award and how it will benefit you.
- Please submit Transcript of most recent educational institution.
- If entering university for the first time or changing institutions, please submit your letter of acceptance.
- Written Letters of Reference – Two (2) references will be accepted (one is permitted to be non-equestrian related).

Please Note:
- NLEA may, at their option, print, reproduce and publish the successful applicants name and photograph in any medium, without further compensation.
- NLEA reserves the right to withdraw or modify all or part of this Bursary and application process.
- NLEA will not return any of the material submitted with Applications.
- Payment will be made directly to the educational institution and is not transferable.
- Successful candidates will be notified by July 1st.
