About the Equestrian Canada Coaching Program
Equestrian Canada (EC), in partnership with the Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSOs), is dedicated to providing coaches and instructors with the necessary tools to make the equestrian experience safe and enjoyable for all participants, horse and human, and to develop excellence in horsemanship.
The EC Coaching Program is the only Canadian equestrian coaching and instructor certifying program recognized nationally and internationally.
The EC Coaching Program is delivered in collaboration with two National Coaching Committees: The National Coaching Operations Committee (NCOC) and the National Coaching Technical Committee (NCTC).
Visit Equestrian Canada website for complete details on the coaching program.

Become Certified Coach or Instructor
The program is a national program and therefore the process for certification is stipulated by Equestrian Canada. The NLEA strongly encourages mentoring with certified individuals during the process. Please visit the EC website for complete process on certification.
Certification Maintenance
Professional development and lifelong learning are the keys to successfully maintaining a high-quality learning environment for equestrians as a coach or instructor - at any level. Therefore, in order to maintain certification, NCCP Certified Coaches and Instructors are required to participate in ongoing professional development.
The instructor/ coach is responsible for maintaining their current status. It is not the responsibility of the NLEA or EC. The individual must arrange, attend, and submit the appropriate paperwork to the NLEA office (coaching coordinators) to ensure their coaching status remains as “current”. The professional development requirements are available on the EC website and in The Locker.
Failure to maintain current status can result in re-certification process.
Please visit EC website for complete details on certification maintenance.
